For 35 years, this coming of age story love story, as well as one of a bullied teenage boy, has impacted multiple generations.  The plot revolves around the friendship of the character, Daniel and the older handyman, Mr. Miyagi (Morita). The older gentleman taught Daniel (Macchcio) martial arts which helped him overcome his adversity. Martial Arts empowered him to take control over his life, fight for the girl he loves, and learn invaluable life lessons.

Krav Maga taught her character, Slim how to be quick and effective as a small person. Krav Maga involves a quick burst of energy and then – get out. You do not have to “pit your weight” against an opponent who is likely to be bigger and stronger. As a woman, it taught her personal empowerment. She shed her victim and became confident, strong, and said “enough” to her abuser.
